Frequently asked questions
Do I need a referral to access the Liver Clinic?
No, you don’t need a referral. You can walk in or call to book an appointment.
What is Hepatitis C?
Hepatitis C is an infection caused by the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV). If left untreated, over time Hepatitis C can cause injury to the liver and scarring (also known as liver fibrosis). Hepatitis C is curable with treatment.
How do you know if you have Hepatitis C?
The only way to know if you have Hepatitis C is to get tested. You can have Hepatitis C for many years without having any symptoms or feeling sick, even though the virus may be causing damage to your liver.
What is the difference between Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B?
Hepatitis B has a vaccine available, and while there is no cure, however, it can be managed with medication to help prevent liver damage. Hepatitis C, on the other hand, has no vaccine, but it is curable with treatment. Both viruses can lead to serious liver problems if not properly managed or treated.
