Contributing to Research

Without research, we would be forced to rely solely on intuition, other people’s authority, and blind luck. Helping clients in the most efficient and effective way is done by constantly appraising our work. At CUPS we work closely with researchers to use the resource we have to the best we can.

A focus for us is promoting and applying Brain Science.

Using Harvard University’s Center on the Developing Child’s methods, we partnered with the Department of Psychology to analyze information from our Resiliency work to determine who our programs are working for and for whom they are not. The evidence shows that a strong relationship with clients helps us from the start create care plans that work best.

Dr. Letourneau who holds the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation Research Chair is continuing studies on Reflective functioning at CUPS and other partner sites.

The ATTACH™ program improves parenting quality and child development without having to teach parents anything about parenting or child development or child milestones. We have access to an extensive library of well validated tools, mentorship in taking community intervention programs for children to scale, and the opportunity to learn from and share the results with the international community.
