June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Peoples. It is also an opportunity to reflect on the ongoing impacts of colonization, deepen our understanding of our shared history, and challenge ourselves to learn, listen, and grow. By learning from the past and reflecting on the present, we can all help shape a more intentional and respectful future.
To support that learning, we’ve compiled a list of events and experiences taking place throughout National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21. CUPS is grateful to be participating in several of these opportunities, including the Sacred Steps MMIMB Walk and McMan’s Treaty 7 Celebration & Cultural Showcase, alongside many other community members and organizations committed to reconciliation and learning.
Whether you’re looking to deepen your understanding, attend a community celebration, support Indigenous artists and creators, or take part in meaningful conversations, we encourage you to explore these opportunities and engage with curiosity, respect, and an open heart.
