Volunteer Position Title: Community Tax Volunteer
Reports To: Jessica Klassen
Location: CUPS Main site, 1001 – 10 Ave SW
CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 with the aim of helping people overcome the challenges of poverty and attain brighter futures.
Since then, our work has evolved and expanded to include services in Health, Education and Housing that are delivered to thousands of adults and families each year.
Through integrated healthcare, education and housing, CUPS and its partners will assist adults and families in Calgary living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events to become self-sufficient.
Position Summary: Community Volunteer Income Tax Program
The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) is collaboration between community organizations and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). CUPS is registered as a community organizations which hosts tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals who have low income and a simple tax situation. The CRA offers the training to volunteers and CUPS provides the clinic location, equipped with the computers and the necessary tax software.
This position is seasonal and requires a 3 month commitment.
