Volunteer Position Title: Childcare Volunteer

Reports To: Grant Kennedy

Location: CUPS Main site, 1001 – 10 Ave SW


CUPS (Calgary Urban Project Society) is a non-profit organization that was established in 1989 with the aim of helping people overcome the challenges of poverty and attain brighter futures.

Since then, our work has evolved and expanded to include services in Health, Education and Housing that are delivered to thousands of adults and families each year.

Through integrated healthcare, education and housing, CUPS and its partners will assist adults and families in Calgary living with the adversity of poverty and traumatic events to become self-sufficient.

Position Summary: Position Overview

The overall goal of the position is to enhance the quality of participant access to programming enrichment as well as fostering a sense of accessibility, by offering related, engaging, same-time, child-care and infant-care -supportive activities. Childcare Volunteers work in tandem with CUPS staff to supervise the children of parent education participants.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Child and Infant care experience with references

  • Ability to engage in problem-solving working with children and infants. Ability to assume initiative with regard to planning activities for kids.

  • Ability and motivation to work as a team

  • Knowledge of social service organizations and ability to access delivery systems

  • Committed to engaging in community development work within CUPS and the broader community

  • Communicate with CUPS Program Facilitator to maintain a record of feedback regarding what components of the programming are successful and what aren’t.

Preferred experience


  • First Aid

  • Enjoy working with infants, toddler and children.

Frequency of position

Monday evening from 5:30-8:00 until December 17, 2018 (Note: No class on Nov. 12, 2018)
