On Saturday, February 28, 2026, CUPS is proud to join the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) for the very first time with a 2 km or 5 km winter walk in Bowness. We’re excited to be part of this national movement and to bring it home to our community.
Coldest Night of the Year is Canada’s largest winter fundraising walk, bringing people together in more than 190 communities across the country. Participants walk in the cold to show support for individuals and families experiencing poverty, trauma, and homelessness — and to help raise vital funds for local organizations doing essential work.
Why this walk matters
Since 1989, CUPS’ inner-city, non-profit Community Health Centre has been walking alongside Calgarians facing complex challenges. Through integrated supports in health care, housing and basic needs, and family and child development, we help people navigate barriers, access care, and create pathways toward stability and well-being.
Whether it’s providing same-day access to health care, supporting a family to maintain safe housing, or connecting individuals with addictions and recovery services, CUPS works to ensure people can access the resources and opportunities they need to create lasting change in their lives.
Funds raised through Coldest Night of the Year will directly support these vital programs and services.

How you can get involved
By walking and fundraising, you’ll help:
- Strengthen essential supports close to home
- Raise awareness about homelessness in our city
- Show that our community cares deeply about connection, dignity, and well-being
Every step taken helps create pathways to better health, stable housing, and lasting change.
