The CUPS Family Development Centre is a welcoming, nurturing environment for families to access resources, participate in programming and build resilience for the future, together.
Participants can access support for:

Referrals to community resources
Who is the CUPS Family Development Centre for?
The Centre is for families with one or more children (or expecting a child) who are looking for resources and support as they work to set goals and work toward healthy outcomes for everyone in the family.
Family Development Programs & Workshops

Attachment building parenting program for low-income caregivers with children between 0-6 years.
Dates: Wednesdays Sep 20th - Nov 9th, 2023

In this program, parents are paired with a Family Development Care Coordinator who will assist parents in creating a safe and loving home environment for their children ages 0-6.
Program Highlights:
• Increase knowledge of early childhood development
• Improve parenting practices
• support in family well-being
• Enhance children’s school readiness and success
• Determine early detection of developmental delays and health issues

Parents with children ages 0-3 will learn the skill of
reflective functioning. Parents who possess this skill are able to promote secure attachment with their children and improve their mental health.
Program Highlights:
• Reflect on their own perspectives and the perspectives of their child
• Practice talking about thoughts and feelings in response to the parent/child relationship

In this 5-week program, parents will build skills in gentle touch and enhance their bond with their babies 0-11 months old through specific massage techniques.

Caregivers with an infant between birth - 11 months old

This 10-week online drop-in program for dads, or father figures, with children ages 0-6 teaches caregivers the importance for children to have a positive male role model in their lives. Join us and be the best Super Dad you can be for your Super Kids!
Certificates of completion will be awarded after each session.

This six-week peer support program focuses on issues related to self-esteem and the importance of effective communication. Participants share their experiences and learn from each other. Topics include self-image, shame, compassion, and the significance of healthy relationships within themselves and others.
Who should attend?
Female-identifying or non-binary individuals 16 years of age and older.

The Child Development Specialist is available for developmental screenings and follow up support plans for family and child. The Child Development Specialist provides referrals to to internal/external programs and support with funding applications.

Play Therapy is designed to support children between the ages of 0-6 years old to achieve mental and emotional wellness so that they can improve their overall mental health. This in turn will provide strategies for parents/guardians to support the mental and emotional wellness of their child(ren).
