New family space at CUPS becomes all encompassing

Families are unique and nuanced. Filled with love, family dynamics also create challenges and obstacles to overcome. It doesn’t matter whether you have a six figure income or you’re struggling to get by, navigating a family through this world is hard. There’s no truer saying than, “it takes a village.”

At CUPS, we work with all kinds of families. From single parent families, to large households of parents and children. Some need more support than others but the goal is to ensure that every family has whatever level of support they need for them.

Showcasing the available support through the Family Development Centre has gotten easier through newly renovated children and family spaces at CUPS, part of the Expanding Impact Capital Campaign.

Previously on different floors, the Child Development Centre and Family Development Centre have been united into one all encompassing space. For families with children in Kindergarten, they can now drop off their child and come right into the family centre to engage in a program or settle in with younger siblings in the family reading space. The atmosphere is welcoming and purposeful.

All part of Integrated Care

The newly designed space is all aligned with the integrated care approach at CUPS, providing better access to a variety of programs and needs. Families will have more visibility to the opportunities available and services that CUPS offers and how it might support them on their journey to build resilience.

Integrated care is about looking at the complex picture of human health, including the social, emotional, economic, health and developmental circumstances individuals and families are experiencing.

Perhaps they need parenting support programs, or mental health care. Both options are just a step away.

The Expanding Impact space includes a new accessible entryway, a new Family Development Centre waiting area, a new open family reading space, multiple education programming rooms, spaces for staff and the Child Development Centre Kindergarten classroom.

One part of a larger project

The family spaces at CUPS are one part of the Expanding Impact campaign. The $3 million project began in 2022 with a focus on reducing barriers and providing easier access to care and support for those who need it most. To learn more about this project and to donate, please click here.
