We have an immediate 0.5 PTE employment opportunity (approx 20 -24 hours/week) for a Shared Care Mental Health RN, working collaboratively as part of a larger encampment outreach team in partnership with Alpha House and CUPS Health and Education Centres. This individual will provide supportive counseling and case management for the Encampment team; be mobile and fluid, working with both Outreach and Housing staff at encampment sites, and follow through to housing as needed. The diagnostic complexity of the served population will require the person in this position to work collaboratively with the medical and mental health teams to sort out concurrent diagnosis in the context of life stressors such as long term homelessness and addiction issues. This mental health nursing position, with outreach capacity, will be attached to both the Housing and Outreach teams. The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of community resources to advocate and refer clients as needed. Our ideal candidate will be a Registered Nurse in AB with BScN, in good standing with CARNA and have a solid understanding of issues surrounding homelessness, mental health and addiction as well as some familiarity with the DSM IV. Excellent communication and organizational skills with a sound ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team is required. A minimum of 5 years experience in Mental Health is a requirement for this position.
